infection. Wound dehiscence and suture ruptures following major surgery are
associated with longer hospital stays or readmission, more expensive
healthcare costs, and increased morbidity. In 2015, post-operative wound
dehiscence was 107% more common in the United States than in comparable
countries that reported data.
