highest level of international bioresearch safety (BSL-4) in 2015. The last
of the visits, which occurred on March 27, 2018, was documented on WIV's
website and subsequently scrubbed (archive).
US officials were so concerned by what they saw that they warned of a
potential pandemic stemming from the lab's work on bat coronaviruses.
