f*********1 发帖数: 2518 | 1 Back in 2010, I ran an experiment on Facebook for over three years. I wanted
to prove to myself if the Left was, in fact, more tolerant than the Right.
I discovered precisely the opposite was true.
I put all my Conservative friends in one group, all of my Liberal friends in
another, and anyone who had no political identity (or I did not know their
views) in a third group.
I then argued opposing positions and beliefs for each group simultaneously.
I would either: a) argue against them, b) ask exploratory questions to get
them to defend their viewpoints or c) point out contradictions and
inconsistencies.
For me, I learned beyond all doubt:
1. Conservatives were much more inclusive and tolerant of alternative
viewpoints than Liberals.
2. Conservatives were far more consistent in attacking the opinion or
argument, not the person (Liberals attacked the person far more consistently
).
3. Conservatives were more likely to disagree internally among one another
or with their elected leaders; they were more individualistic. Liberals were
more (what I would call) cult-like and groupthink.
4. Generally speaking, Conservatives had more depth for their beliefs than
Liberals. Or, at least, Conservatives were better at communicating them
whereas Liberals used sound bites from the media to explain their beliefs.
In the end, I got really good at arguing any viewpoint, better understood my
own beliefs, and better understood my opposition's beliefs. I gained much
wisdom for which I am grateful but it came with a price.
Do not get discouraged with party in-fighting or disagreements; it means
they are thinking individually and NOT like a cult. Believe it or not, it's
healthy. | a****1 发帖数: 634 | | f*********1 发帖数: 2518 | 3 今天改口叫版右了?不是都是叫川舔的吗?

| f*********1 发帖数: 2518 | 8 Here's my testimony of why I walked away. I am 61 years old and for the
majority of my life I was a hard core Democrat. I was blindly Democratic, I
would go to vote not knowing who the candidate was or what he stood for. If
you were a Democrat that was all I needed to know. How could I not be, every
member of my family and friends were Democrats. Growing up all I heard was
how the Republicans were the enemy of the Black race. It wasn't until I join
the Marines that I started to hear different political views, but the
brainwashing was deep. I would argue tooth and nail that the Democrats are
telling the truth. Time went on and I became a father to my two wonderful
daughters. I started looking around at life it's self. I started to listen
and paying attention to what was really going on in the world. Then one day
I was asked a question. "Who free the slaves". Of course I thought it was
the Democrats, but with that question my views started to change. So I
decided that I would no longer support either party and I became an
Independent voters. Voting for whatever party had the best party platform.
While working as Independent contractor doing medical transportation I
started listening to a man that I had no idea of who he was, I just knew
that what he was saying rung true to me. That man was Rush Limbaugh one of
the greatest conservative commentators of our time. When I told my friends
and family that I was listening to him, they didn't say it openly. I was
never looked at the same way. But the more I listen, the more I realized
that my beliefs were more in line with Republican then Democrats. The more I
started studying the Democratic Party, the more I saw through their B.S.
That was over twenty years ago and I thank God because like the song said "I
once was lost but now I'm found. I was blind, but now I see." | f*********1 发帖数: 2518 | 9 I am a #WalkAway
I was never big into politics until Donald Trump ran for president. I wasn't
even into it that much then, I just knew I had to vote so it wasn't my
fault if he won. So I knew I had done my part. I absolutely despised him. I
thought this made me a democrat because I never really claimed any party so
my thinking was he's a republican, I must be a democrat. I followed all the
news stories of him, doing and saying horrible things. I couldn't believe
people in my family were actually supportive of this man. Didn't they watch
the news?! All these years I just didn't understand it.
Then all of the covid-19 stuff started happening so I tuned into one of his
press conferences on the situation. Right after it was over, the news
channel I was watching tried to recap what he had said and they twisted so
many of his words around it was unbelievable. I watched several other news
programs that day and they all did the same thing. It made me wonder, so I
started researching and following his page on Facebook and popular pages of
other people who supported him.
Then the shooting in Minneapolis happened. At first I was following along to
the BLM movement. I believed what the media and Democratic party were
saying. But luckily I was already following those republican party pages and
the pages of people who supported Donald Trump. And I have realized there
was never a huge racism issue like I was being brainwashed to think. It was
a bad cop issue and a bad people issue being made out to look like it. And
now the Democrats and media and BLM movements are using that to their
advantage. And making an actual racism problem.
I have since researched so many of the things I hated Donald Trump for doing
or saying and found it not to be true at all. It was clips of something he
said or words twisted to make him look bad. And I was believing it all, my
disgust was so strong with him. I never thought four years ago I would say I
am voting for Trump in 2020. | f*********1 发帖数: 2518 | 10 My sister and I are #WalkWiths
Our entire childhoods, my folks were staunch democrats and I do mean staunch
. My dad would say at least once per week that Republicans were for the rich
and Democrats were for the working man. In November of 1979 my dad came in
the house and declared that he did something he thought he’d never do, he
voted for Ronald Reagan the republican. It brought him a great deal of
discomfort to do so and he felt like a traitor to his party.
When I turned 18, I registered to vote and of course I registered as a
Republican. I walked through the door and my dad asked me how I registered.
When I told him, my dad lowered and shook his head and said I can’t believe
my son is a republican.
In the years that followed we had many debates over party. We never fought
as I would never be disrespectful to such a great man but our opposing
understandings at times were palatable. He continued to vote for democrats
one after the other. When it came time to vote again the second time for
Obama though we noticed a dramatic shift. My dad was always a Kennedy
Democrat but his party had since changed dramatically.
One night while at his home he sat us down and made his announcement... “I
’ve switched parties;” he said with a smile. I looked at my sister and my
jaw hit the floor. My dad then uttered probably the most factual statement I
’ve ever heard him make. He said... I didn’t leave my party, my party left
me.
Talking politics with my dad has been an enjoyable experience ever since.
He loves this country, served in the navy at 17, is indeed a patriot but he
could stomach no more pulling the lever for a party that left him.
I’m so proud to have him in my life and pleased that he saw the light. | | | f*********1 发帖数: 2518 | 11 I joined the WalkAway campaign 2 years ago when there were only about 30,000
members. It鈥檚 grown to 10 times that, which has renewed my faith in my
fellow Americans! I was never a die-hard Democrat, but have always
considered myself to be liberal (I think they call us classical liberals now
馃し馃徏鈥嶁檧锔. I鈥檝e voted Democrat, Republican and mostly,
Libertarian.
Even though I liked Obama as a person, I didn鈥檛 vote for him because of
some of his big government policies, but I was optimistic about the whole 鈥
渉ope and change鈥thing when he won. I was shocked to see racial tensions
increase, hostility for the United States (from its own citizens) skyrocket
and intolerance of free speech explode. And the Democrats not only
encouraged it, but seemed almost gleeful about it. That, combined with the
fact that it was the Democrats who condoned slavery, Jim Crow and started
the KKK, was enough for me. I knew I was never voting Democrat again.
I didn鈥檛 like ANY of the presidential candidates in 2016, so I didn鈥檛
vote for one. I just voted in the state and local elections. And then, WOW!
Trump Derangement Syndrome is a real thing! The justifying of hate, violence
and lawlessness that we see now is frightening. And I really dislike this
notion that minorities can鈥檛 make it without white people 鈥渉elping鈥
them with their 鈥渨okeness鈥and 鈥減rivilege.鈥Really? That鈥檚 the
most racist, condescending bull I鈥檝e ever heard. They like to call
themselves Progressives, but it鈥檚 THEY who won鈥檛 let go of the past to
move ALL Americans forward. If you keep telling a group of people that
everyone is against them and that they are disadvantaged from birth long
enough, they鈥檒l start to believe it. It鈥檚 the complete opposite message
of what the idea of America is all about.
Our President seems to get this. I really believe that, right now, he is the
only thing standing between the America we all want and the hell of
Socialism/Communism. There鈥檚 2 types of Democrats: the ones in power who
know EXACTLY what they鈥檙e doing and where they鈥檙e leading this nation,
and the good-hearted, but naive ones that listen to those in power and think
that they are on the right side of history. I used to think there was no
hope, but so many of us have seen the truth, I鈥檓 actually excited about
the future of this country now! Thank you Brandon Staka! Thank you, fellow
patriots! God bless America! 馃嚭馃嚫 Trump 2020 鉁岎煆br /> | a****1 发帖数: 634 | 12 嗯,还是为了我删了你的帖子,是吧?你要被迫害妄想症,没治。就算我删了你的贴,

Recent events and what I thought was my political party choice, DID NOT
coincide. I am ashamed of the events happening in our great country and I
truly fear what remains of the USA should President Trump not be elected. My
mind is clear and I now see things in a different light. I still have
concerns about President Trump and some of the environmental decisions he
has made, most of which have been blocked by federal judges, but he is
clearly the right choice. Thank you for adding me and I am confident in
going forward, I have seen the error in my past thought process. The
