That's how much Joe Biden's tax proposal would reduce expected earnings
among companies in the S&P 500, according to estimates from BofA Global
Research. The Democratic candidate wants to increase the corporate tax rate
to 28% from 21%, establish a minimum tax for companies with book profits of
$100 million or higher, and double the tax rate on Global Intangible Low Tax
Income (GILTI) earned by foreign subsidiaries of U.S. firms. Technology
companies are expected to take a big hit.
Goldman Sachs' political economist believes the bill would likely be pared
down and new taxes would be phased in starting in 2022. "As a result, we
estimate that the boost from fiscal stimulus and reduced tariffs would more
than offset the expected tax policies in 2021 and 2022, before the policies
become a modest net earnings drag in 2023 and 2024."
This morning the president tweeted that Biden's tax plan would be the
biggest increase in the history of our country. It's extremely tricky to
compare tax plans, but according to The Tax Foundation, a Washington, D.C.-
based think tank, "while Biden’s proposal would not result in the largest
tax increase on record, it would be large by historical standards and would
have a negative effect on long-run output." His tax plan would increase
federal revenue by 1.44% of GDP in the first fiscal year, making it the
fifth largest tax increase since the 1940s. It would rank alongside tax
increases used to help finance World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam
War. | a****1 发帖数: 634 | 2 版主是台湾人 :-),不会卷舌音(大陆词:翘舌音)?
