This webMD either is too stupid to interpret CDC's report correctly or
intentionally distorts it. The CDC report says "Mask mandates were
associated with a 0.7 percentage point decrease (p = 0.03) in daily COVID-19
death growth rates 1–20 days after implementation..." In the same report,
it also says "The daily growth rate was defined as the difference between
the natural log of cumulative cases or deaths on a given day and the natural
log of cumulative cases or deaths on the previous day, multiplied by 100."
Just to give you a perspective. If there were 10,000 cumulative deaths
yesterday, and 10,100 the today, the daily death growth rate is 0.995%. An
0.7 percentage point increase is 1.695%, and that corresponds to a
cumulative deaths of 10,171 deaths today. A 0.7 percentage point increase
in daily growth rate means 70% (from 100 to 170) more new deaths today!! Do
the math yourself if you don't believe me.
