This guy Mike Wood in Texas learned the lesson Cheney is about to learn:
tell the truth about Trump, then get only 3% of the GOP vote. Even if you
have two Purple Hearts and actually held your nose and voted for the creep
in 2020. Cheney voted with Trump over 90% of the time, same as McCarthy. Don
’t matter. The know-nothing Republican base has gone full-on tribal, and if
Trump says 2 and 2 equals three hundred thousand two hundred and forty
three, they’ll fight you to the death if you say he’s wrong. Look at
Pizzagate vs Pizza Gaetz, or Roy Moore vs Hillary-Clinton-Eats-Children.
Pathetic.
And 70% of those stunningly well-informed Republicans base voters, despite
every indicator, even their own household income, to the contrary, have gone
back to calling the economy terrible, the very same flip-flop they did from
October 2016, when they all said the economy had never been worse, to two
weeks into Trump’s term in office, when all of a sudden the economy was
miraculously great, and when absolutely nothing had changed. But then again,
50% of these yahoos refused to even acknowledge when the economy was in
free fall back in March 2020. You can’t even blame Trump for just taking a
page from the great Addison DeWitt’s playbook in All About Eve, 1950: ‘Don
’t confuse me with that gang of backward children I play tricks on.’ |

forced to deny publicly the result of an election that they know was
legitimate.
Not only that, but they will soon purge from their ranks one of the very few
people with the courage to tell the truth, in order to curry favor with the
uneducated segment of a party that no longer even pretends to have any
ideas about how to better the country.
What is wrong with Republicans? Has losing the popular vote in seven of the
last eight presidential elections made the GOP so intellectually
malnourished that it is now forced to go full feral and eat its own to
merely survive?
And if Rs have success with this approach, consider what path the party will
take if it includes a few dozen more Marjorie Taylor Greenes. |
