engine, very powerful and smooth running horse, mechanical sound. Winter,
sporty, economic, three transmission settings.
Three master keys one service key; Manual;
It has been serving me well for the past 7 and half years and a very
reliable ride. It never fails me on the road. I bought it in 2006 when I was
in Louisiana with 111000 miles on it. It has been my daily ride even since
then. Then I moved to Dallas and stayed there for 6 years. I moved to Utah
last year. Essentially it is a southern car. No rust on Chassis. It has
taken me many long trips without any problems. I drove it from Baton Rouge
to Dallas one time, from Dallas to Colorado (Denver, Aspen, Boulder) one
time, from Dallas to California (then LA to SF) one time, from Dallas to
Houston many times, from Dallas to Oklahoma to Arkansas one time, from Salt
Lake to Yellowstone one time, from Salt Lake to Saint George one time, from
Salt Lake to Arches one time,…. The list just continues. It never created
trouble for me on those trips.
I am a mechanical engineering Ph.D. specializing in machinery lubrication. I
know when and how to maintain the car and their importance. Here is the
list of maintenance I have been done to it:
1. Engine oil/filter change every 3000 mile religiously (myself)
2. New Timing Belt at 111000 miles
3. New Serpentine Belt at 130000 miles
4. New AC compressor at 120000 miles, ice cold ac and very warm air
5. New Fuel pump at 150000 miles (myself)
6. New three tires 3000 miles ago
7. New transmission oil at 135000 mile (myself), shifts very smooth
8. New air filter at 135000 miles (myself)
9. New brake pads at 130000 miles
10. New front suspension struts at 132000 miles
11. New Mass Air Flow Sensor at 135000 miles
12. New fire flame trap at 152000 miles
13. New Bosch spark plugs at 125000 miles
14. Brake oil flush 500 miles ago
15. Power steering flush 500 miles ago
16. Coolant flush 1000 miles ago
17. Just had oil change
18. New battery about two years ago
My experience with the car is: reliable and comfortable. The car seat design
was teamed together Johnson&Johnson doctors to be developed. I do not feel
back hurt at all on long trips.
The bad:
1. The front engine hood support does not work. It needs to be erected
all the way to the vertical position to be held in place. I use a bar to
hold the hood when needed.
2. Sometimes the check engine light came on. Sometimes it is off. It
shows a “system too rich” code. I brought to dealership twice but they
could not figure out the problem. I drove with that for seven and half years
now.
My work is short drive every day. Majority of the miles were put by the long
trips. I won’t hesitate to drive anywhere in the country. The conditions
of the car can be told by the pictures. The reason I am selling it is
because I had liked Mercedes S-class since I was a kid and I turned dream
into reality. I have no use for my Volvo any more. I like the car and truly
enjoyed my ownership. I hope the new owner will enjoy as well. If you have
