我的朋友要来美国工作1-2年，目前有两个选择：vanderbilt和University of
Virginia
她准备让12岁的孩子一起来，从学校教育质量以及其它方面（如：生活便利程度， 气
候）考虑，上面哪个地方比较合适呢？还是差不多？ | s*******y
发帖数: 46535 | 2 Nashville is probably bigger than Charlottesville, and probably more
interesting. The city itself may have more culture than Charlottesville,
considering its significance in American country music, etc.
But Charlottesville is so much closer to everything else, to DC, to all
different things on east coast.
BTW, UVa is public school and Vandi is private, not sure how that makes
things different, but could be relevant

发帖数: 2057 | 4 Charlottesville is a small town, but culture wise, there are lots of things
to do. It's one of the most livable city on east coast.
Rolling Stone, Elton John, Lady Gaga... all came to CVille. Bush, Orbama...
visited more than once. 40 minutes to the mountains, 3 hours to the beach,
one or two hours drive from Outlets in Richmond and Northern Virginia. Three
presidents lived in Cville area. Lots of historical sites. The downtown
mall (walking street) is full of arts and musics. College Sports, local
music play all year round. Living on the ranges, eating with Virginia wines,
shopping for diversities. As more and more international students and
workers shown up, the Chinese grocery stores and restaurants improved during
recent years.
The public school system in Cville is good, from elementary to college.
Though for private schools, choices are limited.
Know nothing about Nashville. Living cost should be lower than
Charlottesville. Retired people from Washington D.C. drive the housing price
high and there are old money left on the country side.
To sum up, if you hate Suburbs living but still won't give up culture POIs
and modern convenience, CVille is right for you. If you are a party person
and shopping Kong, Cville will be kind of boring caused by it's size.
Weather is nice and 四季分明. Two ski resorts within one hour range. Golf
courses open all year. Lake beaches and swiming pools are close. Virginia
beach is the best on east coast. Wild flowers in Spring and red leaves in
fall make the blue range mountain a popular place for hikers. Weather should
be similar to SanDong but feel dry caused by air conditioner.
Let me know if your friend have more questions or need any help. We lived in
CVille for 7 years and plan to stay longer. | t***u

ignore the outer bank where the beach are much much better.

发帖数: 2817 | 7 Outer Banks might be better in the sense of beaches,but no body wants to be
there.
People from the North think NC belongs to South, and people from the South
think NC is a Northern state. You can hardly see any Yankees/Canadians in
Outer Banks.
Plus no big cities around
If NC is like CA, then Outer Banks must be more popular.
