Taiwanese. Never been checked during my F1 Visa Application. VO only asked
for my resume when I interviewed on Oct 9th.
Another H1B girl I met at the consulate in Toronto is an Indian girl,
checked once in her F1 visa years ago (MS in Aerospace Engineering, working
at Ford Motor Company@ Michigan). She got her 221g AP at the same time same
interview right next to me...but she got email from the consulate on Monday
(late afternoon) asking her to submit passport.
You will never know why they check you. I know lots of TAL ppl pass their
visa application without admin processing as well. Dep on the mood of your
VO I am sure. But according to Taiwanese consular rep in Washington (yes I
tried to call them and see if they know anything....), it is very likely you
get extra check if you are not affiliated with Canada that much (like perm
resident, studying there...etc), especially due to the rising of terrorism
nowadays. The Indian girl and I thought of the same thing...we work in
Michigan, very close to Toronto, and we planned on doing business trips to
Europe this month and it won't be easier there....
I guess the US consulate don't really give a shit.

I guess my major does not incur attentions as yours. And my major is just CS
. I wish I could get my h1b visa stamp soon.

waste in your time....CS also has a lot of checking examples..
