A few months ago, the asking prices for similar THs in the same neighborhood
were in the upper 600s to upper 700s.

这个要看谁当总统，年底见分晓吧。。。
VA靠IT撑着，不过不知道IT市场的确有Beijing说的那样热吗？再说如果GOV有个啥动静
的话，方圆几百里的老百姓还不都得遭殃？

I have been a house-owner before and have been burned once. I just wanna be
extra-careful.
I personally think DC area is still over-priced and relatively speaking, way
over-due for a real correction.
Defense cut and fiscal cliff are looming around the corner.
Obamacare is still up in the air.Even if Obama gets re-elected, the Act
still has to face constitutional challenges as applied. Even if they can
implement it, there are good chances that mid-class or upper mid-class will
get the short end of the stick. During the Clinton administration, Hillary
Clinton was in charge of the earlier version of Obamacare. The essence of
her healthcare reform was to change reimbursement codes to reduce deficit.
All major companies got screwed. In response, they slashed their R&D. As a
result, my former advisor, along with his nobel-class colleagues, were let
go. They all became tenured full professor at top universities, though.
That was the hearsay evidence I learned.
If Obama loses,his administration will have to leave, perhaps a wave of
house sales. Then, the next administration comes in, with a wave of
purchases. Maybe this is the better outcome for DC real-estate owners.
I am not a fan of IT. Prime target for outsourcing the run-of-the-mill
operations when budget is tight. Defense is a better industry in this regard

发帖数: 298 | 6 My old house has a county assessment of 300+k. It is only worth 210k now
according to zillow.
The assessment is just a way for them to levy tax. Suppose they are short
on revenue, they have discretion to jack up the assessment value (or
property tax rate, which can be more objectionable).
