China is not our friend. They are the most fearsome competitor we've
ever faced. We currently gain short term advantage from cheap goods
manufactured in China and they are building an ultra modern consumer
economy at our expense. They are investing in themselves and we are
consuming their cheap products and not investing in ourselves. In the
process they are bringing 3/4s of their people out of poverty and we are
collapsing our middle class sending them into growing poverty.
Currently, they are the number two economy growing at 10% per year vs
our 2.5% growth. They are the number two military power growing at 10%.
They have 3 times the number of people. They have decades long plans to
be number one. We seem to be helping them attain their goal with weak
enforcement on monetary policy and allowing trade barriers to our
exports, while letting their products freely into our country. If we
don’t invest in ourselves we won’t have anything China needs when they
pass us in the next 10 years. We’ll be the cheap labor making crap for
their children and be fighting each other to get those “good” jobs at
the toy factory. |
