Windows 98 SE, Linksys PCI Wireless ethernet card, wmp54s, D-link router DI-

Installed the linksys card correctly
While the computer could not obtain a valid IP address from the d-link router,
only showing the private IP such as 169.***.***.***, rather than 192.168.***.
***
Tried a few times, I don't think I typed anything incorrectly.
Any ideas?
