A daylong retreat, “Investigating the Aggregates,” with Ajaan Geoff, will
be held on Saturday, February 27th at

323-665-4300. The morning session begins at 9:00AM. There will be a two-hour
lunch break at 11:00AM.
Please bring a dish to share as this is the main meal for the monks. The
afternoon session concludes at 4:00PM.

Ṭhānissaro Bhikkhu, also known as Ajaan Geoff (Geoffrey DeGraff) (
born 1949), is an American Buddhist monk.After graduating from Oberlin
College in 1971 with a degree in European Intellectual History, he studied
meditation under Ajaan Fuang Jotiko (himself a student of
Ajaan Lee). in Thailand and ordained in 1976. In 1991 he helped establish
Metta Forest Monastery in San Diego, CA where he is the abbot. He is a
prolific writer and translator. Many of his works can be found online at www
.accesstoinsight.org. Since 1993 he has served as abbot of the Metta Forest
Monastery
in San Diego County, California — the first monastery in the Thai Forest
Tradition in the US — which he cofounded with Ajahn Suwat Suvaco.[1]
Ṭhānissaro Bhikkhu is perhaps best known for his translations of the
Dhammapada and the Sutta Pitaka - almost 1000 suttas in all - providing the
majority of the sutta translations for the reference website Access to
Insight,[2] as well as for his translations from the dhamma talks of the
Thai forest ajahns. He has also authored several dhamma-related works of his
own, and has compiled study-guides of his Pali translations.[3]
