contractor工作（现在工作
比较轻松稳定）。到没身份问题，只是觉得是不是会工作压力大。但觉得可能提高快，
现在不做，以后就更没机
会了。
纠结中....
另问$65/hr的12month contract算高吗？(在DC-Baltimore area) 实在没经验地问.... |

as a 快四张的码工, you should have started doing these contractor jobs long
time ago, lol, since you 没身份问题 and have quote some expr already. (i'm
assuming your LD works too and can cover your medical etc.)
many such 6-12月的contractor工作 can extend, so 稳定 is not really that big
of a concern here, as one of my brothers said (he's been a contractor
forever), "it's all about how (W2/1099/etc.) you get paid only".
so why are you looking for 比较轻松稳定 now? man, 35-45 are your best
working years to net in $$$ as a 码工.
for w2 "contractors", $65 is good but for 1099s, it's ok with your
background.

发帖数: 15860 | 10 lol, man, why do you take contractor like a road with no return? it's a job,
just like any other W2 based jobs. if later you find another better 1099 or
W2 job, just change to it, you don't have to keep going on the contractor
path forever, and who cares you were either a 1099 or W2 at your last job??
again, like i said before, it's all about $$$ only. for example, say today
you make $100K as a W-2 employee with benefits. for most of those benefits,
you barely use them except things like 401K match. if your LD can cover your
medical/dental etc., you just work as a 1099 for $70/hr and "cash in" those
benefits plus whatever extra $ in "salary" you make.
if later you feel tired or someone offers you a better W2 job (maybe your
client likes your job and wants to bring you in permanently, which happens
all the time) for $130K, just take it and "come back", and so on.
potentially you can use more tax tricks as a 1099 too, or it can even lead
to your own small company one day.
in a word, don't treat 1099 or W2 with a fixed mindset.

btw, where can you find high paid contract?
Dice is the best so far I used, but found out the range for a sr is 50~60
most of the time...

i have a friend who was making 2x before AND with a lot of overtime pay (not
really much extra work at all)... then when the contract was over and in
renewal stage, he jumped to this one with lower pay (still decent money),
just to "kill" time until the old one was ready again. over years, he made a
ton of $$$.
