Senior Product Manager, Shipping
Primary Job Responsibilities
eBay Inc. has initiated a large scale strategic initiative to build a next
generation shipping and logistics platform that will serve sellers across
eBay, Paypal, and Magento on a global scale. This new platform will support
the growth of business across international borders for our sellers and will
be built with the vision of making world class supply chain and logistics
platform and services available to the marketplace seller. The platform is
created leveraging best-of-breed technology, developed with a top-notch team
of engineers and product managers.
Shipping is one of the top initiatives at eBay. Our goal is to deliver
differentiated shipping solutions to our sellers which will help them
succeed in the marketplace. The objective of the shipping solutions to
provide a wide range of shipping solutions to support seller’s varying
needs, optimize the cost of shipping and increase the predictability of
shipping time estimates.
eBay is looking for a talented and motivated individual to contribute to the
effort as a Sr. Product Manager, responsible for shaping the product
roadmap, strategy, innovation and solutions to meet the global needs.
Working with their peers in Product Development, Quality Engineering and
Business Units, this new senior product management position will play a
critical role in the roadmap definition, day-to-day development and delivery
of required functionality of the new platform. The ideal candidate for this
position should have a strong mix of product management experience, UX
design, and experience building logistics and online services platforms.
This position requires close collboration with other product teams across
ebay to define the shipping experience for sellers.The candidate will ensure
products are delivered on-time, on-budget and with world class quality.
The successful candidate should have significant experience leading one or
more large-scale programs that involve significant functional, operational
and technical complexity. This position will report to the Group Product
Manager, Shipping.
Job Requirements
• Working closely with business units and Geos to envision product
requirements and KPIs.
• Leading Market and User Experience research efforts.
• Working closely with other Product Managers, Architects and
Engineers to both understand and influence the platform architecture and
feature roadmap to support business objectives and the global rollout
schedule.
• Leading and marshaling cross-functional resources inside of the
Platform team and throughout eBay to implement the solution.
• Developing product feature requirements with the help UX
designers and engineers.
• Developing strategy for integration with carriers and partners.
Understanding the business requirements and constraints of internal and
external partners to propose how the platform ought to be integrated or
configured.
• Instituting product life cycle processes and developing
engineering plans with the development and test leadership.
• Triaging project development issues based on severity, assigning
resources to resolve and managing communications.
• Planning and support appropriate release management strategies
and operational support transitions.
• Manage platform requirements, risks, and issues, and identify
risk mitigation strategies.
Basic Qualifications
• 5+ years’ experience in integration with partners (Carriers,
Platform providers).
• 3+ years’ experience in international logistics systems, supply
chain platform preferred).
• 5+ years’ experience in eCommerce and Online Services systems.
• Strong leadership, problem solving, organizational, and
motivational skills with ability to quickly adapt to change.
• Ability to drive work to completion working with multiple groups
representing different functions.
Education
BA/BS in Engineering. MS/MBA preferred.

Sr. Product Manager Behavioral Data
Working within the Data Services and Solutions (DSS) team, the Sr. Product
Manager will be responsible for managing the state-of-the-art eBay web log
processing platform that powers all web analytics in eBay. The Product
Manager’s focus will be defining the product roadmap and executing the
product lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and
customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with
engineering and business groups across eBay to improve the product. The
size of data processed each day by the platform and the sophistication of
the architecture involved offer a unique and exciting job opportunity. This
position requires an individual who is experienced managing a distributed
team with a very high degree of technical skills in programming, scripting
and writing SQL.
Products managed by the DSS team include multi-petabyte data repositories;
tools for exploration and discovery; and data services that enable the next
generation of data-driven services at eBay. The ideal candidate will have
strong knowledge and experience defining and managing data products that
utilize traditional and nontraditional tools for leveraging information.
Previous experience in environments with big data platforms like Teradata
and Hadoop is highly desirable.
Job Requirements
• Holistic thinker who can drive product development, define
features and value propositions, work with stakeholders across the business
and evangelize the product’s adoption internally and externally.
• Able to author training materials and product documentation and
present confidently in front of large audiences.
• In depth knowledge of data management systems, processes and
procedures – how to acquire, understand, control and distribute data and
information
• Exposure and experience working in a big data environments
• Participate in the development of the long term product strategy
providing architectural insight and industry expertise
• Demonstrable experience working with other product managers to
conceptualize and define data products
• Able to work with architects and technical leads to translate
business requirements into technical requirements for implementation
• Work closely with engineering and business groups to prioritize
development initiatives, maximizing the effectiveness of allotted
development resources. Drive decisions across all teams and know when to
escalate
• Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools like
Tableau and Microstrategy
• Very strong written and verbal communication skills
• “Can do” attitude, team player, energetic personality, works
well under pressure in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
Basic Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in a product management role
• 5+ years of experience in large, high volume data environments
• Bachelor's Degree above or equivalent. Math, MBA or Statistics
