Here is an example of more bad tax law, and only CA has this law. Let's say
you want to get the upcoming iPhone 5 for you and your wife. Retail price
if you just buy the phone without a Verizon or AT&T contract is $799. With
a two year commitment the price of the phone is $199. In the other states
with sales tax, your tax is $199 * sales tax rate for each phone. In CA the
sales tax is on the $799, even though you only paid $199 for the phones.
CA charges sales tax on the MSRP for the phone. I have confirmed in Las
Vegas that the Apple store OFTEN sets up CA customers, because they want to
avoid the excessive CA sales tax. So again CA gets greedy, so they get
NOTHING. Of course OR with no sales tax at all is even better, but I can
drive to Vegas in a few hours. Government workers are the greediest pigs
