Geometric Imaging Program in the Mathematical Sciences Center of
Tsinghua University.
The Mathematical Science Center (MSC) of Tsinghua

is founded in December 2009. Its augural director is Professor
Shing-Tung Yau

Geometric imaging is one of the major fields that the Center is
dedicated to develop.
Geometric imaging is to develop the theory in discrete geometry,
combinatorial geometry
and computational geometry, and to apply the tools from geometry and
topology for analyzing
image, shape, and data, and has many applications in various areas including
computer graphics and vision, medical image, machine learning,
computational biology, etc.
The research of geometric imaging in the Center is charged by Professor
Jian Sun
(www.geomtop.org/sunjian) who will actively collaborate with Professor
Xianfeng Gu
http://www.cs.sunysb.edu/~gu and Professor Feng Luo
http://www.math.rutgers.edu/~fluo.
The Center has several openings for Ph.D students in the field of
geometric imaging.

几何图像（geometric imaging）是数学科学中心重点发展的一个方向。几何图像
包括发展离散几何，组合几何，和计算几何的理论，并且应用几何和拓扑的工具去
分析图像，形体，和数据，在很多领域有广泛的应用，包括计算机图形和视觉
(computer graphics and vision),
医学图像(medical image)，机器学习(machine learning), 传感器网络(sensor
network)，计算生物(computational biology)，等等。
