新年听到个牛新闻，虎妈和她的犹太丈夫联手推出一本更高调的种族论新书……书名叫
《The Triple Package: How Three Unlikely Traits Explain the Rise and Fall of
Cultural Groups in America》，说美国有八大优秀移民族群，凭借“优越感、危机
感和控制冲动的能力”（a superiority complex, insecurity, impulse control）这
三重性格特征，比其他族群取得更大成功。这八大族群分别是：犹太人、印度人、华人
、伊朗人、黎巴嫩裔美国人、尼日利亚人、古巴流亡人士与摩门教徒——pqwer好像很
赞赏摩门教徒？我想起另一位成功的二代移民作家任璧莲（Gish Jen）也喜欢写各种种
族和文化背景的移民，接触面广，有本小说叫《World and Town》，致力于打破各种人
的界限。虎妈的动机也是打破界限、互补长短，不过更有煽动性，从表面看倒仿佛更强
化界限似的。
Amazon有一段新书介绍，从中可见虎妈虎爸的论证其实并不陌生：
1. 美国人宣扬人人平等；但此八大族群都认为生而不等，有自我优越感。
2. 美国人宣扬自尊自爱，自我感觉良好；但八大族群普遍有危机感，自感不足，从而
勤奋努力。
3. 美国人宣扬及时行乐，享受眼前；八大族群则强调自控、纪律和控制冲动（
heightened discipline and impulse control）。
他们并且补充说，这三个性格特征也有负面作用。八大族群及其他美国人应该发扬其长
处，打破其约束，通过这把梯子爬向成功，然后扔掉梯子。这样的措辞相当缓和了论点
，不过美国同事都对她的种族论调连连摇头，网上的评论也大多负面。
你们会看这本书吗？我挺想知道书里提的这些族群，身边还没有黎巴嫩人、尼日利亚人
