Americans are just simple-minded fellows entrusting the fate of their own to
the hands of politicians. This is the ugly side of democracy, which is, you
need to put up with lots of stupidity some of the time. But it is better than
putting up with smart devils 90% of the time in other systems.

发帖数: 309 | 3 Things change. Don't forget how Americans were the envy of the world back in
the 90s. All it takes is to have the pendulum swing back towards the left a
bit.
I'd always like to look at the worse case scenario to see how bad things can
get. Let's say Americans are so hated that one can hardly step out of the
country without taking on the risk of getting shot in the head. So what? We
close the door entirely, adopt the policy of "splendid isolation" like the
Brits since we've been funding the world

发帖数: 309 | 4 Well, it is really not my daily concern to worry about how other countries
look at America. After all, except for those religiously fanatical factions of
the world, people are driven by interests, and America has plenty to offer.
Most Americans don't worry about things beyond their control. They concentrate
on themselves, not others. I do have a very simplistic view of the world,
which is, if people are fed, they are happy. If they need to worry about their
next meal, you've got a problem here.
