这是里根总统1964年10月27日，为共和党总统候选人高德华特竞选时的一个划时代的讲
话，题目叫A TIME FOR CHOOSING，这是其中的最后一部分，我收藏在YOUTUBE的PLAYLI
ST里，聆听了上百回。
始于20世纪延续至今的西方与共产革命理念的根本歧义是自由与奴役的选择，里根总统
是20世纪最伟大的政治家，因为他从来没有在这个问题上被假象迷惑而丧失洞察力，理
想和激情，他摧毁了一个邪恶帝国，可惜历史没有能够给他更多时间和机会摧毁另一个
邪恶帝国—中共。
四十四年前，苏联和东欧共产堡垒，如同今天的中共一样，如日中天，西方世界也像现
在对待中共一样，以绥靖为主，认为结束冷战迎接和平的唯一途径就是接受苏联社会主
义阵营的存在，共产主义如同西方的自由民主，将作为一种意识形态，生活方式和社会
制度长期共存, 对这样貌似主流的思潮, 里根不相信不屈服不迎合，二十五年后，历史
站在里根这一边.
四十四年后的今天，西方面临的挑战越加严峻，改头换面乔装打扮的中共，比前苏联更
具侵略性和破坏力，绥靖思潮和政策却盛嚣尘上，然而这一挑战的本质仍然是里根总统

historical events and current trends.
Engaging China is based on assessing Western ties with China in a wide
variety of areas. In particular, China is an important player in the
economic globalization. Unlike the Soviets, the Chinese have adopted the
Western model of market economy and they have been smart in involving in
nearly everything they can internationally. It is unwise and inpractical for

共产党在经济上的成绩成了其唯一的“亮点”，但这个亮点
不能表明其本质发生了变化，更不要说共产党的经济存在着严重
问题，在政治体制不根本改革的情况下，靠血汗工厂和低起点
交出来的经济成绩单还能持续多久也是个问号。
要说dependent，不知道为什么总有人一提经济就好像
中国是西方救世主一样，大家都依赖中国，离开中国过活不下去
事实上中国对西方的依赖远远大于西方对中国的依赖吧，
人家不在中国开场，也可以到马来西亚，越南，中美洲去，世界上
劳力廉价的地区多了去le , 而且现在很多外资已经开始撤出中国了。
而中国没有外资，我不知道中国的那么多剩余的廉价劳力去哪里吃饭.

No, they have most certainly _not_. The "western model of
market economy" has two intrinsic parts -- capitalism and
democracy. China only adopted the first one.
IOW, what China has now is the worst possible form of market
economy - a capitalism without the check and balance by
a democracy. It has led to institutional corruption and
inequality that is not even controllable.
