Astronomers have identified weird star clusters in two nearby galaxies.

There are some odd gangs of stars hanging out in a couple of not-too-distant
galactic neighborhoods. Fainter and more extended than globular clusters but
older than typical open clusters, these stellar groupings don't seem to fit
into any category but their own.
Astronomers Jean Brodie and Soeren Larsen of the University of California's
Lick Observatory first spotted these "faint extended clusters" in Hubbl
