It's also about the timing control of decanting. Here is what I do:
1. For the newly opened bottle, I pour out only the amount that I need for
longer decanting time.
2. IMO, day-3/4 is the best day with less amount of time for decanting.
3. On day-6/7, only very minimal time for decanting. I'll drink it right
after the wine comes back to room temperature.

It needs time to recover back to room temperature. Only pour out only the
amount that you want to drink, and then seal the bottle and put it back to
fridge right away.

aging process starts speeding up. The best is to drink out the whole
bottle. But what if you don't finish the whole bottle, what are you going
to do with the rest? If you are going to drink out the rest very soon (e.g.
, next day), no problem to leave it in the room temperature. Otherwise, the
quality of the wine will deteriorate very quick. What to do? Seal the
bottle airtight, and put it in the refrigerator, so the aging process can be
slowed down.
For those unopened bottles, a good place to store is the cold basement with
consistent temperature. Of course, a temperature-controlled wine cellar is
the best, but to build a wine cellar is not realistic for most people.
