In 1977, the National Park Service established a ranger station
specifically for mountaineers in the small community of Talkeetna. Since
1984, the station has been staffed year-round to provide information and
assistance to mountaineers before, during and after their climbs. The
mountaineering rangers have extensive experience in the Alaska Range and
can provide invaluable information.
