switching to Simple Mobile, and comparing them with T-Mobile's new
Individual Value Plans, and other options. I've also looked into joining my
family's Family Plan (they're on an older 'special' non-contract plan), and
upgrading it to the newish Family Value Plans. Both of these options would
require a 2 year contract.
I've spoken with T-Mobile Customer Retention a number of times and the one
thing of note that seemed worth sharing is: When I said I was comparing
Simple Mobile and T-Mobile (so possibly leaving) and asked if they could
offer any incentives for me to stay and take a 2 year contract on the
Individual Value Plans - they offered me a $250 credit toward phones (I told
them I want the HTC Sensation). That would make the Sensation $50 above
current non-special Classic Plan contract price.
When I called and asked about re-upping myself AND my 3 family members to
one 4-line Family Value Plan, with the same parameters (other than my family
are looking for lower end phones) - they offered us a $500 phone credit.
I was offered the $250 credit by a few people, and the $500 credit by the
last guy I spoke with when I asked about switching to a Family plan (thereby
giving them four 2 year contracts). Take it with a block of salt, but he
implied strongly that those are the two options available to Customer
Retention folks. Amusingly, he also said that some of his family are on
Simple Mobile and dig it.
FYI - Running my own numbers, the Individual Value Plan price and the
Sensation for $250 doesn't beat Simple Mobile (with a new Sensation from
ebay for $375 - $425). The Family Value Plan line for me at $49.99 (2GB 4G
speed cap) is better, but not when the $500 credit is split four ways
leaving me with only $125 credit. So I haven't jumped but am likely to go
with Simple Mobile.
One would assume that someone switching to T-Mobile was likely to snag this
as well. Though my experience is as an existing out of contract customer. So
def YMMV. But the T-Mobile Value Plans can be good deals (depending on what
you want), especially the Family Plans. Best T-Mobile link: Link:

I did search around but didn't see this mentioned. Apologies if it is and I
missed it.
