No rebate! The us.ncix site requires an order of $50 or more for
freeshipping. Sucks that this drive costs $49.99. So you might need a cheap
flyer like this $0.99 SATA cable Link: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=20770&vpn=RC-SATA-18IN-L&manuf Technologies Inc.&promoid=1055
to get FS.
Did not see this one posted even with all the SSD deals already out there (I
will delete it if this is a repost). The nice thing about this drive is
that the Part number is OCZSSD2-2VTX50G. I believe VTXE means the newer 25nm
NAND was used inside while VTX means the older 34nm NAND. So this could be
NCIX's old stock of Vertex 2 drives still using the more expensive 34nm NAND
.
Anandtech talked about the impact of the different NAND used in SSDs in this
review: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4256/the-ocz-vertex-3-review-120g
.
In short, a 50GB VTX Vertex 2 using the 34nm NAND would have 8 chips using
all 8 channels of the SF1200 controller while a newer 60GB VTXE Vertex 2
with 25nm NAND might only have 4 chips and utilizing only 4 of the available
8 channels of the SF controller.
