First deal post, so forgive me if it's in the wrong section. I've been
looking for a 14" TimelineX for a few months now and I finally found a
decent enough deal to buy... and share! B&H Photo has the 14" Acer
TimelineX (AS4830TG-6450) for $614.95 + free UPS ground shipping + no tax.
Best price I could find online that came close was $646.48 which came from
CompUSA and that included tax and shipping which kills the deal.
Specs as follows:
Intel Core i5-2430M Sandy Bridge 2.4ghz Dual Core Processor
4GB DDR3-1066 RAM (upgradable to 8GB)
Memory card reader with MultiMediaCard, xD-Picture Card, Secure Digital (SD)
Card, Memory Stick PRO, and Memory Stick support.
640GB 5400 RPM HDD
DVD Writer (supports DVD-RAM/盧/盧W)
14" Active Matrix TFT Color LCD
WXGA (1366 x 768) resolution
nVidia Geforce GT 540M 1GB DDR3
HDMI
USB 3.0
Bluetooth 2.1

Microphone
Things to note are the Sandy Bridge processor and dedicated GPU. While you
won't be playing BF3 on ultra settings, you should be able to play on lower
settings. Another thing to watch out for is the CPU throttling. Many
people have had lots of success with ThrottleStop:

which prevents the system from throttling down the processor to 1.2GHZ.
Just keep an eye on your temps and you should have no issues.
