So, the Embark Glove a waterproof/breathable barefoot style (zero-drop)
running shoe - think VFF minus the goofy looks plus a gore-tex liner and you
're close. You can also use socks with the Merrell Gloves series if you
desire (I do, and my shoes smell a lot better for it). I personally run in
a pair of Merrell Trail Gloves - they are probably my favorite shoe of all
time, no more shin-splints while running (yeah! a bonus of the barefoot
running style) and the fit is perfect for my feet (roomy toe box). I had
been considering the Embarks at the same time I purchased my Trail Gloves,
because a waterproof shoe makes running in crap weather a lot easier (cold,
wet feet = you're gonna have a bad time). I ultimately decided that $170 a
pair was too rich for my blood. But at 50% off, they are really darn
tempting...
There are also some good deals on boots and other shoes (45-55% of retail),
none of which I'm very familiar with, check 'em out if you're curious (and
add the keepers to the wiki, please).
