Nespresso comparable pods are now available in the U.S at Amazon.com for $25
per 50. This saves users $0.07 per capsule. When this product released in
Europe, there was a frenzy on demand (4 billion requested in first year by
retailers which was more than twice what they had capacity to create).
Due to the popularity, price (Nespresso pods have never been on sale), I
hope this is at least an informative / warm deal for users.

So for the last decade or so, Nespresso patents have prevented 3rd party
companies from making pods for their machines. This, bundled with the fact
that pods are only available almost exclusively online from Nestle, makes it
possible for them to dictate the price. The good news is that, starting
this year, some of those patents have and will expire.
Amazon.com has started carrying this year one of the first (in the US) 3rd
party capsules for Nespresso machines from Ethical Coffee Company (Link:

). This company was actually founded by the former head of the Nespresso
division at Nestle (source: Link:

).
This product is fairly new for the United States so I'm not sure on the
taste / quality but the price saves Nespresso users a minimum of $0.07 /
capsule. I still have lots of Nespresso pods so won't be buying just yet.
