Right now they're having a Whistler etching exhibition,
which is really worth seeing. I've always loved Whistler,
and this exhibition made me like him more. hehe

I also read through the story about the room, which amused
me more, so i went back there to check all the shillings and
funny white feather around the neck the next day.

| c*****e 发帖数: 94 | 6 haha! Whistler is kinda eccentric.
Have you noticed his unique signature? It's a butterfly.
This shows how he's indebted to Japanese art.
I just watched a documentary on him at Baltimore Museum of Art.
By the way, when you were at Freer, did you see the Bada Shanren
exhibition? If you did, how did you like it?
I lingered there for a long time until my friend got impatient...
Besides, right now Freer has excellent celadon ceramics on display, those
from the famous Guan Kiln. So many good things t

| c********a 发帖数: 780 | 7 Yes! I did see that, and it impressed me before I realized
that is by Whistler.
I was in Freer Wed and Thurs last week. Of course I went to
see Bada Shanren, and I did that because you mentioned the
exhibition before I go in one post.
Well, I missed the better part and got only chance to visit
the permanent exhibition there.
I like them very much, mainly because they made me feel so
peaceful. But, frankly, I was not that interested in
Calligraphy.
In the museum, I spent too much time in the Japa

| c*****e 发帖数: 94 | 8 oh yeah, Freer has wonderful collection of Japanese screens
and paintings.
When I was there, there were so little people... especially
compared with other museums such as Natural History.
hehe, my friend commented: bada shanren is 太清淡了,
, so few are interested in him.
Kind of. I still remember the happy crowd at the
diamond exhibition of Museum of Natural History.

| c********a 发帖数: 780 | 9 There is really few people there. From time to time,
i cannot help wonder if it is because non-Asian cannot
understand Asian as well as Asian arts.
I spent quite some time in front of the "Lotus" series.
That is amazing, which also reminds me of 周敦颐的
Sometimes, painting and
articles can match quite well.. :)
