Audition a lot, but am lost at Visitor Q and Ichi the killer. Has anyone
seen them? Do they have a point to make at all or are they just exploitative
films of extreme violence? |

The director can do various styles very effectively. Audtiotn is straight, and
slow paced. Visitor Q has Surrealistic elements. Ichi the killer has a little
Hong Kong mobster style. The narrations are all kinda twisted that need
you to put pieces together. Theme wise, they are all related to violence,
violence and love, violence and letting go, violence and rebel etc..
They are all very intense for sure, I am just not certain whether the
intensity is coming from narration, or violence.

surprized that they have it.

Audition Spoiler..
I thought the same thing when I watched that torture scene.. then when I saw
the scene where the leading-male suddenly woke up and found everything was
just a dream, the girl talked so softly about accepting his proposal...
the soft-spoken way the girl speaks is so very creepy. I thought the movie
may be seen as an interpretation of Japanese's obsession with ultra violence
as a reaction to Japan's traditional virtue of extreme curtesy and submission.
