surfing-crazy colonel part. The plantation part is kinda slow. But I like the
colonel part. So I really don't feel it changed (or ruined) that film.

version is so damn long. it made the stupid ending (after Brando showed up)
even more unbearable. it'd be a great movie if the boat got blown up at the
bridge and never reached the fucked up utopian or something.

release version...
For me, Marlon Brando and the ending is critical in making the
film great.

人很会心得样子，后来忽然就把白兰度砍死了。实在觉得很奇怪，
也许是当时听不懂英文，字幕可能又是“你是凯蒂么？”的那种。
不过给我的感觉后来白兰度就是找个办法，勾引那个兵半夜爬上来把自己砍死，
这是为什么？

Many films codemn the evil of war, and many Vietnam war films describe the
horror of the war. Apocalypse Now is unique to me in that it's more like a
philosophical thesis on evil of war, not just on the bloddy details of war,
not just the war in Vietnam. It's more comparable to "Seventh Seal" and
"2001" than "Platoon" and "Deer Hunter".
