The Council first passed the bill two weeks ago, making today the last step
before it’s sent to Mayor Fenty who has ten days to sign it (as he’s
pledged to do). After that there are thirty legislative days where Congress
has the opportunity to review the bill before it’s enacted.
Last night on the eve of the vote, supporters of marriage equality gathered
in the District to show the overwhelming public support for the measure.
