In assessing the year in LGBT rights, what is most striking to me is the
Obama administration’s unwillingness to engage on almost anything related
to relationship recognition. Time and again, the administration has had
opportunities to lean into the subject, to nudge the nation a little closer
to equality for same-sex couples, and it has repeatedly leaned back,

You are partially correct, and maybe differences of opinion are so minor
that they are moot, but I do continue to give Obama a little more credit. In
part I think that Obama has been trying to give out what he can in
piecemeal fashion to us in the GLBT community, possibly in priority order.
Life or death issues = hate crimes bill. Job discrimination = ENDA is next.
