Pilots, outdated manual blamed for December Blue Angels crash
Lieutenant Ted Steelman was rescued in good condition last December 1 after
his plane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico near Pensacola. Steelman, a new team
member at the time, was completing a split S maneuver during an early season
famliarization flight when his jet hit the water, causing structural damage
and a massive engine fire. Steelman managed to keep the plane flying and tried
to make an emergency landing at Pensacola Naval Ai
