Test a Device for Compatibility
Follow these steps to test a device for compatibility with OverDrive WMA and
WMV titles.
1. Ensure that you have OverDrive Media Console installed.
To download OverDrive Media Console, click here.
2. Download the test file(s) of your choice. Select the format(s) you
wish to transfer…
* OverDrive WMA Audiobook SupportWMA Audiobooks
* OverDrive Music SupportWMA Music
* OverDrive Video SupportWMV Video
3. Transfer the test file(s) to a portable device.
For transfer instructions using OverDrive Media Console, click here.
4. Play the test file(s) on the portable device.
If the file(s) play without issue, the device supports the format(s)
tested. If the device will not play the test file(s), or if playback is
erratic, the device may not support the playback of DRM-protected Windows
Media files.

Differences in device firmware (the software on which portable devices run)
make it possible for two similar devices to have different results in regard
to compatibility. Manufacturers often release firmware updates that may
expand or limit device functionality. We recommend checking with
manufacturers for the latest information on device firmware and file format
support.
