MILPITAS DISCOVERYLAND
(408) 263-7626
1991 Landess Ave Milpitas, CA 95035
My son attended a Montessori preschool for 2 weeks before we changed to
Discoveryland. He loves discoveryland, tons of toys (also computers!) and
very very nice teachers. There are two teachers for 8 students for the 2
years old class when he first there. In his first two months in school my
son has already showed great improvement - potty training done, no more
pacifier during day time or nap time, nap great and good eating habit! My 2
yrs old makes new friends there, and love to play in the huge yard and I am
always surprise to see new words and hand crafts he learned and made in
school. After 5p kids different classes play together in a room or at the
yard, and my son enjoys playing with other kids always want to stay longer
when I come to pick up.
This school has strong emphasize on social skill and arts & crafts which I
like for my daughters

What was drawn to me at first were their hours: 7am-6pm and they potty train
your child too!
The facility is clean and trustworthy; you can come in unannounced at any
time, no matter how hard you look, you won't be able to find a single
violation or concern.
I love every single staff.. Amparo, Claudia, Mrs. Antonia.. they've become
an extended part of my family and what is cool is now I get to pass on this
closeness to Eggplant.

Our daughter graduated from Sunshine Pre-School after attending it for two
years. Initially we were planning to send her to private school for
Kindergarten, but when we found out that Sunshine School also offer after
school program at Ruskin Elementary School, we decided to try the public
school system instead. We are glad we did. We are proud that our daughter
is an outstanding student who does well academically, emotionally,
physically and socially. Since both my husband and I work, we are so happy
that Sunshine After School is right on Ruskin campus. It provides homework
assistance and many valuable enrichment activities. We had her signed up
for soccer, dance, Chinese language, Chinese drawing, Chinese calligraphy,
and Swimming during summer. Just imagine how many trips I will have to do
if I were to pick up and drop her off for all of these activities
San Jose State Associated Students Child Development Center

In addition to the stellar facilities and competent staff/directors--we have
periodic meetings with her teacher, in a partnership to set goals for our
little girl. It's wonderful to be involved and ask to be involved.
Speaking of being active in our daughters learning--the Development Center
asks parents to participate in volunteer work to benefit the children and
their day-care. Of course if you have a hectic schedule, there are other
options to acheive your parent hours, and still contribute to the success of
the Center. I could go on for days about how awesome this place is--but I
will just leave it as "this is a great learning environment for any child--
equipped with great facilities and stupendous Directors and Staff."

This place is the best preschool we have seen so far.
-They provide structured bi-lingual (chinese, English) education.
- Organic food for the most part and home-made meals!
- The owner, teachers and staff are all very nice and caring.
- Clean, always clean.
- even though there are a lot of kids, they never fight with each other -
kudos to the good disciplines I guess. I was really happy about this because
my boy was always the youngest wherever we sent him the first two years and
it seemed there was always a little bully at the other daycares.

Gan Sameach Nursery School

It's a Jewish developmental preschool, which means plenty of art and playing
. Kids learn how to take turns, behave nicely, work together, If that's
what you want, this is a wonderful choice. There's story time, singing,
outdoor and indoor play, dress up, and all the things most would expect in a
preschool. There is some structure, but plenty of freedom. ABCs and 123s
get some attention
BRIDGES COMMUNITY CHURCH - LITTLE LAMB MINISTRIES
(510) 656-1359
505 Driscoll Rd
Fremont, CA 94539
As an educator myself, I believe that early childhood education isn't about
absorbing information, but about character development, problem solving/
exploring new things, as well as feeling loved and accepted just for being
who you are. Little Lamb Ministries care for each and every one of their
students and meet all aspects of a 2-5 year old's developmental needs. My
daughter went to this preschool when she was 3. The teachers, not only of
her class, but also of other classes, are all warm, friendly and caring.
They treat kids with smile and love. You can feel the warm and the love from
the first second when you are in the campus, and everyday after that. I'm
really glad I chose this preschool for my daughter. And the director is
really kind and nice as well.
Only complain was the sloppy work of office assistant Miss C. Usually I had
to wait at least 3 weeks, write more than 5 emails, and make a couple of
calls to resolve a issue, like wrong scheduled payments or wrong annual
tuition summary for tax purpose. Sometimes just no response from her for
weeks. And it happened not just once. Everyone in Little Lamb is willing to
help, unfortunately I could not feel the same thing form this assistant. The
good thing is that they have a new assistant now. Let's hope.
One suggestion is that it will be great if hot lunch option is provided. It
will be most welcome by busy working moms.

Like the other positive reviews for ABC magic moments, we are very pleased
and extremely impressed with the Director and her school staff at the
Irvington campus. Our child spent 3 years there, we took our selection of a
preschool very seriously, you won't get anything better in Fremont.
- The Director is a phenomenal leader, communicator and educator. She's
professional and honest and just an overall great lady.
- The teachers are dedicated and always have the best interests of the
children.
- The facility is clean, inviting, a conducive learning environment.
- Most importantly, our child has benefited greatly from learning, playing,
meeting great friends and participating in the various events the ABC team
produces (including holiday concert, "Teddy-Bear" picnic, graduation
ceremony, etc.)
I encourage anyone reading this review to send us a private message via Yelp
and we would be happy to speak with you directly about our outstanding
experience with this great school.
The only reason why I gave it 5 stars is because I couldn't give it 10!

They've often shared and described in great detail special moments my
daughter has had, the kind I wish I was there to witness in person. Early
on I wondered if my daughter was just one of their favorites, but as time
passed I realized that it's just how ABCMM operates. They are true child-
care professionals. As someone who would much rather be with my children
watching them grow, than be at work, what I appreciate most about ABCMM is
that they make me feel like my daughter has their undivided attention all
day long, as though she were the only child there.

I love that the school have webcams for parents to access from home/work so
I can see what my son is doing in class.
I also like that the playground has some overhead shade and a soft foam
ground instead of bark or sand.
No lunch
The director Brittany is rude and doesn't do her job. She needs to be taught
how to run a school and she dresses inappropriately around the children. I
don't think they have enough teachers in the classroom. Only 2 teachers
with 24 kids! I

Pros:
1. teach kids to read starting at young age
2. Field trips to parks, restaurants...
3. Webcam so parents could see the classroom anytime (but often down).
4. Price is reasonable
5. Have worksheets available in case parents want to bring some home to do
with child.
Cons:
1. Environment was not happy & affectionate. This is more of a learning
institution that foster independence. So, it's a con depending on what you
are looking for.
2. Mixed age 2-5 playing in the yard, especially the play structure does
not work. The older boys frighten the young kids as they run full speed (
which boys naturally do). They should have separate play time. The
supervising teachers are sitting correcting papers, not participating or
helping the younger children on the swing. They don't get pushed. If they
can't swing, that's too bad.
3. Eating area in yard had single tables so kids sit by themselves to eat.
The area looks depressing and kind of junky.
There are various methods to teach kids how to read; this place uses
flashcards and memorization. I know it works for some kids. For a
preschool, I would rather choose a warm loving environment, and encourage
loving to learn rather than rote learning.

Our twins graduated from MPP last Thursday and it was bittersweet for me. I
had the pleasure of watching each of the children grow, learn and do things
that they weren't able to do in the beginning of the school year. They've
all learned so much from teacher Zeya and each other. I loved the songs they
sang, curriculum, friendships the kids & I developed, field trips, fund
raisers and the overall experience of MPP. We have truly enjoyed our time
with teacher Zeya.

Pros
* Infant area
* Nice clean outdoor area & gardening
* Kids learn independence & how to do things for themselves. My dd loved
making her own cereal, sweeping, cleaning up, drinking out of a cup, putting
shoes away etc.
* Basic snacks included (but usually carb/cracker). Lunch delivery available
* Ms Ashley, Ms Krista, Ms. Jenny (left), & Ms. Jennifer (left) are/were
fabulous. Many teachers are wonderful, qualified, & all speak English well
(hard to find in this area)
* Clean & well kempt (a few cockroaches but dealing with it)
* Mr Wiley music class is good (only 2x/mo).
Cons
* Some teachers are distant/have very low affect & speak in HR "ese", cold/
fake, stock template responses not very down to earth/sincere communication.
Lack of expressed joy. Wish for more sincere joy, laughter, hugs, &
communication.
* IMHO not enough interesting, changing, or engaging activities. I think my
daughter was bored. Mostly academic & sensory (beads, blocks, pouring etc).
Some good jobs for learning about water, pouring, doing dishes, folding, etc
but IMO- boring. No dramatic play.
* Lack of crafts & interesting themes- I mostly got back photocopies of
coloring book pages with her scribbles or dot paint play. At her new school,
my dd has complex & interesting crafts that match theme/book of week (
gluing seeds & different items on paper, creating 3D crafts, painting,
playdoh etc.
* Director often snarky/defensive instead of actively listening to
suggestions/concerns. E.g. director insisted on leaving pointy metal
scissors on a low shelf as a job for 2 yo. Slightly dulled tip, but still
pointy metal. I donated rounded metal scissors as an alt. she refused to
switch. It's not like I brought the plastic kind that don't cut. Guess it's
really impt for 2 yo to use pointy scissors?!? She insisted that that they
supervise & teach rules, but I know how quickly an eye gets poked. Guess
what, same month my dd & another girl cut their own hair!! Um, excuse me,
you did insist this couldn't happen? My dd STILL has a chunk of hair shorter
, but it could have been an eye! Potential for scratching/ losing an eye or
sticking another body part just isn't worth it. & I know kids are NOT
supervised 100%. I was floored that I was a customer trusting them w my
child yet they refused to address a reasonable safety issue- final straw.
Guess they don't need my $.
* Outside play is acceptable but not enough trikes/scooters. Walks, but I
have found teachers sitting on a bench with the kids in the buggy. . . . My
dds new school has a bigger play structure, sand, swings, water tables,
bowling & outside toys, & plenty of bicycles/tricycles/scooters.
* Lack of open communication. Other pre-schools send home cards that share
with you what your child did that day, here sometimes didn't get diaper/nap/
food log. Told me "the child is the report card" & it should be exciting & a
surprise for you to just see changes in them--this sounds like a big excuse
for not telling me what my kid did all day. I don't need a thesis, but it
would be great to know 1-2 things (a song name/story/anything!). They say to
ask, but they are then too busy.
* Web cam was often not working.
* Snacks are cheap (crackers). Lunch not included and more exp than
elsewhere. DD new school has cute well rounded snacks (multiple ingredients).
* Lack of creative solutions for addressing behavior issues. Mostly talk out
& positive reinforcement policy (not great for 1-3 yo that aren't very
verbal). They also use "hold-the-pocket" as time-out that I can't find any
peer review/documentation of & may actually be negative reinforcement or
shaming.
* Décor is stark- not very cheerful & colorful.
* Email is answered very slowly (if at all).
* Phone is not always answered, & messages not always

I can't say enough good things about Monarch. My daughter went to a year of
preschool there and then went on to Kindergarten. They are a Christian
school but they practice Montessori techniques. I've never seen a school
like this--so unique!
The classes were all academically driven, but at the same time, they gave a
lot of attention to character development, good manners etc. I was shocked
to see the high level of work the students were engaged in. As crazy as it
sounds, by the end of the year, my daughter was reading out of a 5th grade
language textbook! The kids in her class were working on multiple digit
mulitplication and division. The teachers were some of the most friendly
and well-trained that I've met. The class sizes are kept small and their
teachers are full of heart. We had to move out of state after Kindergarten,
but I will never forget our Monarch experience. I hear they have just
opened a new elementary site in Milpitas very close to this Calaveras site.
My kids are grown now, but if you have young ones that are preschool/
elementary age, go check out Monarch. You can thank me later!

I am a stay at home mom of two that has a 2.5 year old son attending this
school since February 2013. Prior to this, he had attended Santa Clara
Christian Preschool for a month before I realized it wasn't the right school
for him.
I've personally visited around 20 preschools to see what they have to offer,
looking at how clean the environment was, student to teacher ratio, teacher
backgrounds, and the curriculum. Any loving parent will want the BEST for
their child. I narrowed my search to the distance from my home and luckily
this school had just opened in Jan. 2013.
Since my son began attending this school, he has really started to flourish
as an active toddler. He has started to count, sing more songs, and listen
when I give him directions. I know he was beginning to do this even before
the school but I feel as though this experience has accelerated his skills
even more.
These are the qualities I love about the school:
1. Brand new school, clean floors and carpet, furniture, toys, and indoor/
outdoor play structure.
2. Low student to teacher ratio. Toddler class is 1:8. As a parent of a 2.5
year old, I think toddlers need more individualized attention from their
teachers.
3. Structured and well organized play based curriculum based on Montessori
teaching. Every week there is a new lesson for the toddlers.
4. Educated, loving, caring, patient, and dedicated staff. The owner (Ms.
Nikki) has two kids of her own and knows what it takes to raise children.
She is always there at the school listening to parents' feedback and trying
to make the school better. My son's teacher Ms. Nancy is always patient,
full of energy for the kids, and shows love and care to my son.
5. Weekly reports from Ms. Nikki with pictures of my child doing his
activities and having fun.
6. Option to purchase catered lunch.
7. Lots of educational toys to choose from that are age appropriate for the
level they are in.
8. They help potty train the toddlers.
There are just a few reasons why I love this school!

My son has been going to Milpitas montessori for 3 years now (since Pre-K).
He absolutely loves it and as a parent I am very happy with the learning.
This school is not as expensive as other name brands, but the teaching staff
, curriculum, and quality of materials used is at par. My son loved Ms Chi,
Mrs Moorman and loves Mrs Kunche. Mrs Kunche is very strict with kids and I
think it helps with discipline with boys. On the downside, I wish this
school had some musical or sports activities. I think kids need music and
sports as well in addition to studies at this age.

Not saying this center is ideal and perfect but there are many reasons that
they deserve a 5 star! Just voted as Milpitas' Best Day Care is another
echo of their effort and success.
My baby has been going to this day care since she was 3 months old and
throughout times that I shopped for other centers, I always ended up
deciding to stay. The center director Ida is approachable, understanding
and a problem solver; which gives me a very reassuring feeling that the
school and I are on the same side. The teachers go to different classrooms
throughout the day and they all know my baby, which creates a big center but
small family feeling for my kid and reassures me again that they care about
my baby and my baby fits in great.
The center involves parents in quarterly activities and provide timely
services. We attended summer BBQ, Halloween Parade and during the upcoming
busy holiday season, the center offers once a month extended babysitting
service.
The teachers are approachable and willing to accomodate to the special
request we made as the babies transition from one stage to another such as
learning to use sippy cups, eating solid food, no outdoor play until she
walks more stablely, etc.
The tuition is $1600 a month for full time 5 days a week. It's relatively
expensive compared to the smaller scale home based day care, but it includes
formula and baby food for the first year as well as lunch and snacks, which
a lot of big centers don't offer (for example, Action Plus does not offer
free lunch and they charge $3 a day extra). Besides that, where else can
you get a wide range of kid exposures with a small classroom setting? My
kid loves checking out other bigger kids (from toddlers to kindergarden) yet
her classroom size is just 8.
All in all, I can't help but rave about this center. Highly recommend!
