of his record contract before the New York Yankees had a chance
to offer an extension, a move that may end his time with
baseball's highest-spending team.
Rodriguez, 32, chose to void the final three years and $72
million on his contract with the Yankees in favor of seeking a
deal with another Major League Baseball team, agent Scott Boras
said.
