Next week we'll get a follow-up from this week's neutral announcement from
the Federal Reserve regarding the introduction of more easing into the
system. The Bank of Japan will announce its rate decision on Wednesday, and
it is expected to keep its target rate at 0.10%. The Bank of England reports
its minutes on Wednesday as well, after keeping its main rate at 0.50% and
upping its bond-buying program. The US and Canada get their GDP numbers next
week as investors and traders wind down before Christmas and the New Year.
There are a number of foreign bond offerings that you should keep an eye on
throughout the week as they've had the propensity to move markets. France
and Spain are on the chopping block as recent statistics have shown
liquidity and funding concerns in Europe are easing ever so slightly.
Key earnings reports include Nike (NKE), broker/dealer Jefferies (JEF) and
tech giant Oracle (ORCL).
And don't forget, Santa will be coming to town next weekend, so make your
list and check it twice!
