这家公司在imaging processing和terminal/server 领域里曾经是全美top level， 家
喻户晓，人杰地灵，可以说，进入这家公司是无数Master Degree Holders/新技术移民
的梦想和IT事业起步的摇篮。这家公司选拔人才非常苛刻，绝不亚于今天的facebook和
google。
几年以后，SGI以迅雷不及掩耳的速度萎缩着，与此同时，Sun Micrsosystem成为了它
同时代共同成长的见证者。最终，Sun被Oracle收购而告终-----当人类社会面临每一次
转型的时候，都要有一批大无畏的牺牲品做陪衬，也许是豪情万丈，也许是激情未遂。
这两个故事告诉了我们一个什么启迪呢？ 请看今天的SGI：

公司主要是有灵魂人物，而不是搞一堆精英的集合，一堆将军堆在一起，
也是没有战斗力的，这样的事太多了，没有bill gates就是有再多的精英，
会有今天的微软吗？
当初没有乔布斯的apple不也是弄的快破产吗？
政府也是一样，台湾马英九的政府成立初期搞的一堆精英，最后弄成18%的
民调，也是一个例子。 | n*******r

Solaris OS, Java language, and MySql database. It died without a leader.
What a shame!
I made fat money from Sun last year. I observed that its price went north
silently last Feb, and I ambushed in since I knew its technical values.
First sold when WSJ reported IBM's acquisition. Later, that deal broke and
the price did not return to where it started (5.0X before WSJ report), but
kept over $6 for several days. So I bought again, 3 days later, Oracle got
it.
BTW, SGI was legend when I was at college, sigh! |
