common practice is to stop when you're down 3 buy-ins. if you're up 3 buy-
ins, you could use the same standard unless you feel the table is really
good. "good" can come in a few diff. flavors:
1) you're running a rush, getting good cards, lucky... this could change at
some point;
2) you have a relatively good skill edge over your opponents with good reads;
3) you have better control of your play and somebody is playing on tilt/weak
tight/etc.

for a winning player, the more hands he play the more money he will make. so
if you got on a hot streak early in the day and stop after you hit a certai
n target, you are actually costing yourself money.
ideally even stop loss is not required. however, a couple of things usually
happen after you start losing: 1) more or less you will change your play; yo
u probably are not tilting, but you might become overly aggressive with draw
s trying to gamble back your money
