messed with everything possible for half an hour
then he goes, "somehow your computer doesn't like Chinese. there's nothing I
can do about that"

then he opened google translate, and goes:
"however, you can still type in English here, and press this button, and
copy paste the translation result back to search engine, and google will
take you where you want to go!"
