faculty outside our department.
Today met with a 50+ American female professor. At first she said a lot
about how hard to write a good proposal .... (she got a $50K grant from
NASA a few years ago and it's all she got in the last 10+ years).
Then she agreed that I split her $ (she runs a center at $5000/yr, and I
will give her $200K/yr for 3 years);
then late this afternoon, she sent an email said " it is interesting i |

The due day is early next month and I need to fly to DC to meet with the
funding manager the week of next to figure out the final scope and focus of
the project. her requirement of reading proposal before agreeing to be part
of it is not reasonable - how can I design a project with someone in mind
but am not sure if she will sign on the proposal.
just share my experience so you wouldn't feel too bad when you run into this

申请grant，proposal 已经写好了，下个月due，你看能不能签个名？我答应拿到钱后
给你20万每年。
你是直接签呢，还是要求读完了proposal再说？ |

发帖数: 1422 | 11 about 2 month ago I met her to discuss the scope, focus, and involved people
wrt this project. She was agreeable. Today I further showed her outline of
the proposal, our approach, our online demo.
I feel I gave her adequate information wrt the project for her to decide if
to be part of it or not. Maybe I am wrong? |

it's a project grant – P01 type.
If indeed you are trying to get a P01, not only you need co-PIs, they
usually have to contribute to the writing. The reason is, you are enlisting
expertise outside of your own (required for a P01), it is unlikely that
you can write convincingly on something you don't know much about. In this
sense, not only you should let her read your proposal, she also has to write
part of it and you

发帖数: 165 | 13 这个老太太is too sensitive, 不好合作，这种人要末别理她， 要末多多容忍一下就
是了。我个人感觉，有很多女性，当然也有一些男的“科学家”属于“不好合作”这一
类的。如果多多顺着他们，酌情处理，也能成功合作，但大多数时候是半途而废。
