发现 prelim-surgery 申请的人少，很多 program 都有unfilled position.每年fill%
的机率只有百分之60多。大家能不能讲讲，为什么大家都不愿意去prelim 外科？fill%
低 == 好申请吗？
我今年要是match不上，要是能申请上preliminary surgery，作为usce，7月份开始
prelim 外科，9月份申请下一年match，对于申请内科 PGY-1 会有什么样的帮助呢？对
于申请麻醉 (start from PGY-1 )的帮助大吗？

in that hospital.And you' better not choose it if you did not apply to that
advanced program. Is this correct?
Another question, if I applied an anesthesiology program which has
categorical spots, do I need to apply to the designated prelim position in
that hospital also. Or the anesthesiology program will take care of it for
me?

是不是都要都double 99才有机会? 另外外科这个observationship 如何找呢?

发帖数: 248 | 24 外科和其他专业一样，对年龄和性别没有特别倾向。但良好的身体素质和精神素质是必
需的。
我们科有4个female attendings，占25%, 其中一位黑人female attending，一位IMG俄
罗斯female attending。
我们科的住院医中，3个female住院医 (all AMG)，占20%。我以前做research的医院外
科中，female 能占到40%。
我国内毕业15年, step1/2 <95, matched surgery。当然double 99一定程度上会增加
竞争力。
要找外科observership，最好得有connection，一般外科医生忙得很，少有时间和耐心
。你可以ask你老板帮忙。
