现在Santa Clara water district有个rebate项目，鼓励你把草坪换成其他耗水较少的
植物。rebate是每平方尺2块钱。不知道有人搞过或者对此了解吗？能否介绍下经验？
1. 这样换完以后有什么坏处？换成其它植物后，至少可以大量节约灌溉用水（据说可
以节约40%左右)而且再不用剪草了。既然大部分还是选择保留草坪，那是不是换了以后
有什么坏处呢？比如是否不好看了，进而会影响房子的价值（如果卖房的话）？或者其
他植物比草坪更难打理？
2. 做这个花费大约要多少？从设计到施工，包工包料一共要大概多少钱呢？（比如
1000平方尺）
3. 有contractor推荐吗？他们网上有一个designer的list，都是有很漂亮的网站很正
规的那种。这个是不是就跟装修房子一样，找个正规公司能比找个老中contractor贵一
倍以上？有口碑还不错的换草坪的contractor推荐吗？ | m**********n

发帖数: 87 | 3 I did the following last year on 800 ft lawn, DIY, Two days, 2 people, a lot
of preparation work.
1. Put cardboard on top of the lawn, newspaper works too (5 layers), spray
water on top. if you don't have enough, you can buy cardboard in homedepot.
This step is to kill the lawn naturally with minimum effort . Don't use bio
stuff
2. This is for hardscape conversion. I put landscape fiber on 1/2 of my
space with stapler. Then put gravel on top. Gravel can be ordered in your
nearby store, don't buy it from HD or LOWES, too expensive.
3. This is for planting area conversion. I put mulch in the other half of
the space, 3 inches. Once this is done, you can dig holes to grow plants.
If you want to hire someone to do it, I can refer a contractor as well,
depends on where you live.

发帖数: 87 | 6 The original grass doesn't need to be removed. The first step, put the
cardboard or newspaper on top of the grass then cover with 3-5 inches of
mulch. The grass will be dead under cardboard or newspaper in 3 months.
cardboard or newspaper will decompose within 9 months in the soil. This is
the most environmental friendly way to kill the lawn.

些可惜。
