发帖数: 14281 | 2 既然有人争论方的学术水平，就上网搜了一下。应该说这个水平对于一个junior
faculty来说可以算是很牛B了，但是对于老方这种senior的已经搞了一辈子的人来说，
就只能算so so。不要说是院士，离aps fellow的级别也还差了不少。引用率最高的一
篇文章还是95年到了arizona之后跟老外合作的，被引118次，这也是方唯一一篇被引用
上百次的文章。可见方励之89之前确实没有做出过什么重要的工作，他的名声和地位绝
对是靠政治得来的，当然其中部分的也是80年在中国搞科普所得，必须承认科普工作也是
有重要的社会意义的。
(BTW，有人说你这个搜索未必完整。不错，确实不能保证100％毫无遗漏。但是我
用的search engine is THE search engine everybody in this community uses today.

我喜欢每天开车跑来跑去时，看路边的枫树，红红黄黄的，煞是好看。这时节开车一点
也不寂寞。曾经专程去过 New England 或 Levenworth 这些地方看枫叶，是，也满好
看的。但 Bellevue 这里迷人的地方，不是那种大片大片，满山遍野，吓死人的枫树林
；而是那些就在路边，虽处可见的枫叶美景。我喜欢那种美景就在身边，垂手可得的简
单幸福感；也喜欢偶尔车子开过一个转角，惊讶地发现眼前几株美到不行的枫树的那种
意外惊喜。虽然比不上那些著名的地方，但这种随处可得的简单幸福与意外惊喜，融入
了我的生活之中，they have become part of my life。And I'm grateful for that.

不知道有没有人注意到？昨天傍晚的阳光颜色与平常非常不一样，是金黄色的阳光。当
时开车到 NE 102th 与 NE 10th 的路口，路边一棵枫树非常漂亮，整株树的所有叶子

先罗嗦两句，下班去健身，8点出来想着吃啥，又懒的做，吃了好几天速冻的，边上肯
德基也吃过了，对自己好一点就想着买个中餐吧。Kirkland没有Bellevue那么多中餐馆
，就随近的地方挑一家，门口写了中文大大的'陈'字，没报多大希望能够比较正宗，进
去一看都是老白吃饭，看人家桌上的菜，看来是American Chinese无疑了，也罢，不能
和Seattle和Bellevue比，凑活着好歹也是个中餐。
前台拿起餐单，中英文对照，一个老板娘模样的华裔妇女打招呼，礼节性回了一下。我
看上面有中文，还是个亚裔的招呼，下意识的就问了一句，Do you speak Chinese？其

、US Bank 的对面、那个躲在几株行道树后头的房子？是，那是个教堂，一个有 118
年历史的教堂 (since 1896)，它的全名叫做 First Congregational Church，这是十
几年来我第一次知道它的全名。要不是头顶有个十字架，大多数经过的人根本不会注意
到它的存在。“老侨” 13 年前搬来时，它就已经静静地躲在那儿，只有每天傍晚在院
子里听到它悠扬的钟声时 -- 不知怎的，它总让我想起香港时代广场的钟声 -- 才提醒
我它的存在。
十三年来，它就静静地站在那儿看着周边老房子一个一个被拆掉，工地一块一块围起来
。它应该很清楚 Lincoln Square 动工、停工、复工的历史；它应该也知道 Bravern,
Courtyard Marriott，还有数不清的公寓楼，在它眼皮子底下盖起来。如果它跟我一样
，它应该会怀念当年 108 街上那个洗车店，里面那个爽朗健谈的老黑人 Joe（是的，

。小学不好吗？Elmwook and Orchard Lane这两个小学哪个好？Sunnyslope和national
这里是不是学区比较复杂，感觉稍微靠东靠北一些就不属于Eisenhower这个学区了。前
两天看到个房子在Sunnyslope的东面，124th的西面，W Howard Ave 的北面，但是学区
属于West Allies了，就pass了。什么时候才能找到满意的房子啊。 |
