so your Oracle would be for study purpose? I think it'll live
fine with 256M under Linux, you can download 8i from their website.
The installation is a bit tricky on Redhat7.1/7.2 but I finally
get it up and run. as to Lite, it's more of another DB than
a simplified Oracle and it's not true RDBMS if I recall correctly. |

The reason I took certifications is just because I am too lazy to study
anything new so I have to register the test and then I can finish a book in
one week which I can't finish in one year normally.
When I go to interview, nobody look at my certifications (even I have ocp dba
7.3, 8, 8i, now I have 9i, developer 2000, 6i, solaris scsa 7, 8, scna 8),
they only care what kind of projects I have done.

以前在win2k下可以用(btw,机器是用modem的, 不知道对host有没有影响)
现在在winXP下用, 新建一个database, system/scott都可以用
可是重新启动机器, TNSListener started 正常, OracleServiceDatabasename
始终就在那儿"starting". SQL plus 进不去.
check了listener.ora, TNSNames.ora, services.ora似乎都没什么问题
也用database configuration assistant, Net8 configrate assistant试了
把机器格式化重装还是这样
把那个database删了, 重新建一个, start, stop, restart都好好的, sql plus
也好好的, 可是一重启机器, 它又在那儿"starting"...
有谁遇见过这样的情况吗? 帮帮我呀, 多谢! |

to do with 9i. It is because the CPU doesn't support the java engine or
something like that...
you probably are facing the same problem. I searched google and found
a solution, however, it didn't work well for me. |

You'd better check it out what real problem is.
ps: don't know if it is true the GUI needs some GNOME libraries. ie,
you 'd better install it under GNOME or any Xwindow if you've GNOME installed |

吧，REPLICATION好像理论上能做，没经验，看到一个这样做的
you can replicate datas from Oracle to MSSQL or SQL Server.
1) You can create triggers, so that the datas will be directly transferred
to MSSQL/SQL Server. Use ABDC (that is a package in Oracle). With ADBC you
are able to connect against the slaves and update/insert/delete the datas
directly.
That will be something like a just in time replication.
