China. Per my understanding, the potential foster has to go through a lot
of hoops such as application, background checking, which cost about 20,000
to 40,000 dollars depends where the child comes from. It is cheaper to adopt
in States, much more expensive to adopt internationally. The adoption is a
blind matching process; there is no third party involvement. Based on

生活在美国，如果你不想吃转基因食品，那也不是不可能，但还是有相当难度的。我本
人不是研究转基因的专家，但对转基因却非常关心。美国超市里有转基因食品上市了，
方舟子和崔永元又打起来了，这样的时候，我都要跑去看看热闹。美国政府在2015年初
批准转基因苹果（北极苹果）在美国上市之后，我过段时间就去超市转一圈，很想亲眼
看看转基因苹果是什么样子，但到目前我还没有见过转基因苹果，更没有吃过转基因苹
果。我等得都有点急了。现在中国国内有句讽刺人的话：你就是吃转基因的命，操转基
因的心！我还真是这样的人。

one week she sits my Lily, she adopts her first cat. Now she adopts the
second one. Just like she said: 冲动是魔鬼!!.
I have other friends. After they sit my lily, they adopt 2 lovely cats, Da
Niu and er Niu. (I posted their pics before).

下来研究了一下。一晃就12点了。室友回房间以后，我又正打算去睡觉，却听见外面一
声声猫叫得紧。家里三个原本在沙发上睡得香的都把耳朵给竖起来了。
我穿着睡衣，打开门一看，一只小tabby在楼下朝着我喵喵叫。环顾四周，并没有别的
人和动物。这只猫不知道哪里来的。我也不知道中了什么邪，对楼下的猫招了招手。他
竟然就顺着楼梯上来了！我把手伸出去，他就用头顶我的手，喉咙里还不停地purr，一
定都不怕人的样子！我仔细一摸，才发现他很瘦，毛脏脏的，而且背后有好多结痂的伤
疤，小鼻子上也有不少scratch。只是这猫的表现太不像野猫了。记得只花了5秒钟，我
就决定把他抱回家了。
进屋以后，他也毫不挣扎。我把他放在门口的ottoman上，他就自得其乐地趴下了。以
Ben为首的三毛，分别先后过来视察，hiss了几下后便在不远处静观事态发展。而我捡

shelter说实话，也不怎么样。
比如一些no-kill的shelter基本上就是谎言。
他们确实是no kill，但是他们只进那些看起来很容易被adopt的狗，对于adopt 不出
去的狗，其实最终还是交换到kill shelter去了。
典型的例子就是： 芝加哥paws在lincon park的adoption中心，有钱的要死，里面的狗

adopt不出去的时候，就送到芝加哥边缘的kill shelter（我碰巧也去过那里的shelter
，碰见他们送过去的狗）去了。 有意思的是，lincon park这里光志愿者就是3000多
人，天天围着几十只狗（流动的）献爱心。而kill shelter那里，为了挤更多的狗，到
处都是狗笼，污秽不堪，donation也很少，所谓有爱心的志愿者很少去。最要不得的是
nokill shelter那里还要诋毁kill shelter，结果捐赠都进了他们这边。

觉得太以偏概全，很误导新人么？
供大于求的情况，是不是被无良宠物店，puppy mill还有那么多职业的业余的BYB造成
的，这个好像现在社会里挺有共识的了吧，都在提倡adopt, do not buy。你要去再做
个data mining来推翻这些么，那也会很有成就吧。
shelter大都是义工，又不盈利的，这个和高尚不高尚的事业有多大关系，最多就是这
些人都不忍心看太多猫狗莫名其妙的歹活横死罢了。每天那么多超量要处理的情况，早
就忙不过来的，怎么能和专业卖纯种猫狗挣银子的breeder提供的fancy网站啊客服啊来
比较？
而且如果shelter对领养人一点审查面试都不做的话，那和craigslist上随便送猫送狗
的有啥区别？请搞清楚，很多所谓的领养人，拿了猫狗回家自己做BYB卖钱送人之类的
不在少数，虐猫狗虐着玩的也多了，版上都出过好几起了。要说想要adopt的人被白眼
之类的情况，shelter那里有，breeder那里也多，当然，都是相对负责的breeder才会
给潜在客户白眼。

really impressed with her, but they were making friends," Julie Tillson
