发帖数: 621 | 2 大家好，小弟在这个论坛里也呆了不少时间了，不过之前一直潜水。蒙ZHAOCE和
GOODBUG老师开导，现在对计算机编程逐渐变得感兴趣起来。眼看着明年6月份就要毕业
了，但是还是没想好要做什么方向，所以希望大神们给指导一二。
1）个人背景：
美国本科EE 。一直在做DEVICE（CNT/GRAPHENE）这方面的建模和模拟。之前跟导师还
有组里面的PHD聊了以后，感觉这个方向大多是在水PAPER，不符合我的追求，所以考虑
转行CS。
大体说下我上过的相关课程：
CS：软工相关的，DATA STRUCTURES, ALGORITHMS（贪婪算法，动态规划），OS和AI。
还有一些线性规划和凸优化的课
数学：本科数学系的课，研究生的实分析、数值计算（PDEODE, LIN ALG）
EE：相关的大概只有概率和随机过程了
实习：没有。一直在做研究和上课
2）问题：
2.1）大家觉得CS PHD的意义大么？我以后肯定不会呆在学术界的，所以最终目的还是
找工作。主要是EE的很多方向做的东西跟真正工业界的东西相差甚远，不好找工作，只
能水PAPER。

sys都混入了，真正runtime文件也就幾個，放到arch文件夾裡不行麼？要是像gcc那樣
支持幾十種處理器，豈不是有幾百個文件？

其实从开机到出现登录页面很快，但是登录后desktop出现后硬盘灯就不闪烁了，整个系
统就好像停在那里，my computer 或者start都打不开，但是过了2分钟以后一切都正常了
.我用trend micro查了下，好像也没有什么virus 和 spyware。请教高手可能的问题，谢
谢！
附：
我在电脑没有反应的那段时间打开win task manager, CPU load varies from 10-50%,
PF usage 300MB~.最后loading 的几个processs:
ehmsas.exe, wuauclt.exe,wmiprvse.exe,alg.exe,dllhost.exe;1XConfig.exe;DLG.exe;
ehrecvr.exe. |

basically ppl use SVD to do pseudoinverse.
1. Let B = pinv(A), where pinv(A) is the pseudoinverse of A, m x n matrix.
i.e., ABA = A
2. SVD (Singual Value Decomposition)
Let A = USV', where U & V are orthogonal matrices (U'U=I) and S is
a diagonal matrix.
3. -1
B = V S U'
so what u need is a SVD algorithm. U can get it from

,etc)，就基本不太work。这就是unstructured data的特点
big data是这几年的新概念，肯定是基于ML/DM/IR/Web/等领域对large-scale data
analysis的基础上的。不同背景的人关注点会不一样，theory/alg/hardware/software
/application/etc
ultra high dimensional data（p>>N)的问题已经做了挺长时间了，bioinformatics那
边似乎应用不少 |

虽然我的title是这个,但可能不是大家认为的quant,因为我做mbs的.
1.其实可能很多人觉得quant就需要编程,我承认是需要一部分.但其他的因素也根据你
是什么组,做的什么产品来具体分的. quant和trader完全是不同的概念.如果不在front
desk,你是个quant也没什么意义.找trader不见得找的到你那里去的. 所以编程绝对不
是trader的必要技能.
2.我觉得,可能大多数人心里面的quant,说的是那种programming trader,比如rates
trader,也就比如你读个cmu的ef,出来可能干的活.就算是rates trader,programming够
用就行了,不需要很高深.你需要的是一个strategy,而不是一个程序.程序就在那里,
strategy/alg有问题的时候再改,平时看着就行了.而且...这东西搞得人越来越多,不容
易赚钱,之前经济不好的时候,所有strategy都不管用,经济好的时候还行,但也赚不大.

（1）用Radial SVM做classification,一开始忘了normalization（数据的scale差异极
大，有的在0-1波动，有的超过1000，的确有这个必要），赶紧perform normalization
后发现accuracy,sensitivity, kappa这些metric基本没有significant improvement (
平均就增加了0.05左右)。不知道这是为何？
