住在麻省Amherst小镇的朋友邀请我们去看红叶。去之前才知道那里有Emily Dickinson
的故居，才知道Amherst College是仅次于Williams College的美国排名第二的liberal
arts college。去之后更发现Robert Frost曾在Amherst College教过书；周围更有好
几个相当出色的liberal arts colleges。惊喜一个接一个，一个不经意的小镇都有那
么浓厚的人文气息，新英格兰值得细细探索。

$300-$400吧,要在北村跟人合住会比较便宜,
Presidential, Puffton, Lincoln,什么的都离学校很近,
其实town里也不错,也不贵,又有bus,
生活更colorful一点,泡个bar,逛个书店,
要真有雅兴,Emily的故居也只在咫尺之遥,
couple要贵一点喔.
就是离Boston远了一点,
不过在Boston谁有老往城里跑,
也没几个常去Symphony Hall的吧,
恐怕还没Amherst人去Tanglewood去得勤.
最好有高速火车让Amherst-Boston少于一小时 |

research university and some fields are among the top in the world. Amherst
College is a liberal arts college that is as difficult to get in as Harvard
but I don't think they do research. |

bed 大概1200-1300。amherst比northampton应该还便宜一些。总体来说算是很安全的

amherst college待了一阵，umass的朋友说college的风景更好，可惜应聘的时候没录
用，哈哈。估计college的工资也更高。 |

also a great university (not as good as Amherst college). If you want your
kids to go to grad school, then Amherst college is as good as Harvard.
Otherwise try to get them into an Ivy school. |

very beautiful from May to Octber.
1b1b should be around 800-1000, not as expensive as big city.
Actually, you can choose family house, much cheaper, convenient

，芝加哥，波士顿，洛杉矶。这些地方确实有很多大城市的问题。
但再稍微小一些的城市，比如西雅图，亚特兰大，达拉斯等等，这些就好多了。他们能
提供城市的便利，房价也不贵，生活也安逸。你们既然这么痛恨大城市，来说说这些1.
5线城市差在哪里了？
而且话说回来，美国很多大学都能再开车两小时范围内找到城市。UC Davis到旧金山，
TAMU到Houston，UCSB到LA，Princeton到纽约... ...太多太多了。没看出来为啥
Amherst在他们当中能算“几乎最好”。
