自从看了这个新闻后就非常难过。 我们这这个星期四发生了一场车祸。一个当地的女
孩teenager把一个中国人一家撞了。祖父当场死亡，妈妈7个小时后也死了，一岁的小
baby重伤。警察也联系不到这家人的家人。更让人难过的是那个teenager说是她没有超
速，没有打电话和发短信。所以她最多只会判150天in jail. 而且这家人已经找了律师
，律师自然是帮着她说话，连记者写的笔调都是护这个女孩的。虽然说什么女孩很后悔
，但为什么那么快又去找律师还把责任推卸的干干净净？
那个地方的限速只有25mile. 车祸是在小区内发生的。如果她真的只开了25，怎么可能

我不是大牛，虽然给offer的学校是我的dream school但是地理家庭的因素占了很大一
部分，所以我的经验不是来自拿大offer的牛人。

1. 第一个体会是要广撒网，跟我一起申请的labmate只申了30个但一个interview也没
有。相信不少人都听说过决定申某个学校前要问问自己，如果对方给了offer你会不会
去，如果答案是No，那么就不要申。这个经验没错，但是很多时候还有不少的学校会被
归在‘I'm not sure'的一类。我的体会是如果这类学校的opening跟你非常契合，那一
定要申, 拿到interview的机会比较大。有interview才有练习－－我面了4个的体会是
这个过程真是熟能生巧，第一个的表现现在回想起来挺悲惨的。
2. Timeline: 这条主要是给没申过的同学们：生物化学方向，Oct 1 是第一波大的
deadline, 在这之前从7,8月就会陆陆续续有学校广告出来，但是如果你的材料到Oct 1

其实不仅是对学生，对同事也是如此。
外国人在美国生存，策略是比平均美国人**更aggressive一点**。
现实中，平均东亚人的行为方式是，比平均美国人**更隐忍好多**。所以地位老提不高。
人善被人欺，老祖宗对人性的精妙总结。
argue分数是个特别搞的事情。我见一个羞辱一个，后来就没人来了。羞辱的是说：
反复强调，i thought this is so easy for a student as good as you, but
you disappointed me...激发他的不安全感，defend自己的确是那么好的学生，
这次实在是不小心的。。。然后很apologetic地灰溜溜离开 |

You could try to tell them you are extremely busy with the deadlines and
projects, but you are very interested in interviewing. Once the schedule
frees up a little, you will contact them. Basically for apologetic and say
you are very sorry about this. Everybody understands deadlines. It's not a
big deal.
Or you could just man up and take the interview. It really depends on how
confident you are with your interview skills at this point.
